Why choose light-gauge steel?

How much cheaper is a well-calculated structure?

Section titled “How much cheaper is a well-calculated structure?”

A precise figure for the whole building would compare unlike alternatives. For the structure’s own material cost, however, an optimised design can save roughly 40% compared with an overdesigned solution. The other disciplines are harder to quantify, but a more precise structure makes their work easier and faster.

The key advantage is that LGS uses space efficiently. Comparable thermal and acoustic performance can be achieved with a considerably thinner wall — roughly half the thickness in some build-ups — than with traditional construction, although the exact ratio depends on the specified layers. Properly designed, it is also a durable, high-quality structure.

With precise build-ups, its material cost can also be lower than a masonry wall with external insulation, but durability and efficient use of space are the stronger reasons to choose it.
