Statutory design check or expert review?
Two different things are often called by the same name.
What the law calls a design check
Section titled “What the law calls a design check”A separate role requiring its own licence, with defined formal requirements and a declaration. We do not carry it out. If you need one, we tell you where to find a suitably licensed professional.
What we provide
Section titled “What we provide”An experienced designer’s opinion of an existing design — as part of the structural design package: a structural assessment, material optimisation and, if the design cannot be saved, a redesign. It carries no statutory weight, but it is useful in practice, and faster.
When is it cheapest?
Section titled “When is it cheapest?”At project start, before anyone has ordered material. At the Páty industrial hall the structural design’s flaw came to light before work began — a few days’ work saved a site problem that would have dragged on for months.
