Why choose light-gauge construction?
How much cheaper is a well-calculated structure?
Section titled “How much cheaper is a well-calculated structure?”A precise figure for the whole building would compare unlike alternatives. For the structure’s own material cost, however, an optimised design can save roughly 40% compared with an overdesigned solution. The other disciplines are harder to quantify, but a more precise structure makes their work easier and faster.
Price is not the main argument
Section titled “Price is not the main argument”The key advantage is that LGS uses space efficiently. Comparable thermal and acoustic performance can be achieved with a considerably thinner wall — roughly half the thickness in some build-ups — than with traditional construction, although the exact ratio depends on the specified layers. Properly designed, it is also a durable, high-quality structure.
The point to remember
Section titled “The point to remember”With precise build-ups, its material cost can also be lower than a masonry wall with external insulation, but durability and efficient use of space are the stronger reasons to choose it.
